I am not sure who this figure is supposed to be. I believe it is made of cherrywood and was made around 1947, I think somewhere in India. Please comment if you know anything about this.

Posted in Random Buzz, Visual Buzz with tags art, Carving, history, Ivory, Visual Arts on May 4, 2013 by MelissaAnother part of my ivory collection…
These micro-mini ivory carvings were made around the 1940′s somewhere in Africa or Asia. All twelve fit inside the bean at the top, complete with an ivory lid. For perspective, the pencil is placed at the bottom to demonstrate the actual size. I can’t figure out how they were able to do this without a laser, unless they had lasers in the 1940′s. I haven’t quite figured out what the purpose was in making this other than looking at it in amazement. :)

One day I spotted about six sheep and I had to stop and take some pictures. Sheep are very odd-looking creatures and quite frankly, not the cutest animal that God created. This one here really liked me and loved posing for pictures.
